Nexaid is an African non-profit development and humanitarian organization working to understand and address the root causes of enduring poverty and suffering in Africa.
OUR MISSION
Nexaid exists to address the drivers of chronic poverty and suffering in Africa by marshalling the power of research, advocacy and locally led actions.
OUR APPROACH
We tailor our approach to each society and ensure that our work is locally owned and driven. Together with local partners and teams, Nexaid jointly develops programs and help set in motion a process of change that connect local communities, civil society, government and the international community.

Our work grows out of a vision of “thriving, resilient and sustainable communities of people and nature across Africa”.
THE CHALLENGE
When nexaid.org launched in 2018, chronic poverty affected 400 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), home to 60% of the world’s poor. Unless we create and roll out new ideas and bold actions that produce lasting impact, 90% of the world’s poor will soon be African

We conduct independent research to uncover the forces that sustain poverty, generate evidence for development and humanitarian policies and practice and formulate and spread bold solutions that create lasting impact
We design and implement community-based, locally led and solutions-focused programs and projects that address the root causes of poverty and empower individuals and communities to take leadership in transforming their lives for the better.
